Missouri Governor pulls funding from Abortionists

Missouri Governor Blunt: Abortionists' Goal is "facilitating the destruction of innocent life"

103 Precious Lives Saved

The Article below is cause for rejoicing, it gives the news of the Piedmont Women's Center annual banquet.  The good news included a keynote address by a speaker who was saved from being aborted.

Piedmont Women’s Center conducts annual banquet
By Thomas C. Hanson

GREENVILLE—The Piedmont Women’s Center conducted its annual fundraising banquet March 6 at the Palmetto Expo Center. More than 1,300 attended the event.
The crisis pregnancy center’s mission is “to offer the hope of Christ to all clients and save babies as a result of the Father’s love.” The center saved 103 babies from abortion in 2006. (emphasis ours & rejoicing, R.H. C.F.L.)

Guest speaker was Stephen Mansfield, author of The Faith of George W. Bush and The Faith of the American Soldier. Mansfield himself was saved from dieing in an abortion by the intervention of Catholic nuns in 1957 after a doctor told his mother that giving birth could kill her.
He was embedded with U.S. troops in Iraq to write The Faith of the American Soldier, and saw there how soldiers discovered the reality of God on the battlefield.
Banquet events
Lenna Neill, chief executive officer of the Piedmont Women’s Center, welcomed guests to start the banquet. Then Rod Mays, chairman of the board, opened with prayer.
A highlight of the evening was a live ultrasound performed backstage on an expectant mother and her 13-week unborn child, projected in two and three dimensions on large screens for the audience to see and narrated by Dr. Phil Greig of Upstate Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and Trish Dillard, a registered nurse, director of Medical Services.
Neill spoke about a bill in the South Carolina State Assembly that would mandate that abortionists show expectant mothers an ultrasound of the baby in their womb. The Piedmont Women’s Center offers free ultrasounds, while a neighboring abortion clinic charges $150. Close to 80 percent of the women who are abortion-minded choose life after seeing an ultrasound of their unborn child.
Neill mentioned a situation where a pregnant woman who did not have $150 to pay for an ultrasound at the abortion clinic went next door with her boyfriend to the Piedmont Center for a free ultrasound. They saw their 13-week preborn child with arms and legs living in his quiet world “trusting his mother and father to protect him, not knowing that only hours before his life was going to be snuffed out.” They came to the realization that “we almost killed this baby.”
Neill showed a clip of an ultrasound of an 11-week-old preborn baby who is not protected by law. Until 14 weeks the preborn child is not protected.

Mansfield speech
Then Mansfield gave the keynote address
“We are living in a time when the flesh, the devil and the world are attempting to convince people like us, people of faith … that it is a horrible time to be alive, but … that is not true,” Mansfield said, noting that we are experiencing a Renaissance, a rebirth, a surge of faith, a surge of interest in the supernatural.
Not long ago Mansfield was at the White House when President George Bush arrived on the Marine One helicopter and walked over to a rope line of reporters, stuck his hands in his pockets and told the press what he was praying about that day, and without saying anything more, he turned and walked into the White House.
“When the president of the United States gives his prayer list to the press, something is changing in this country,” Mansfield said.
Mansfield noted that “some of us begin to disqualify ourselves, thinking about the things that keep us from greatness and from accomplishing our best,” and went on to say that “if we will not think in terms of being perfect … not think in terms of being confident in our own strength, we may very well be in our finest hour, or maybe the beginning of what could be a finest hour for the people of faith in this country.”
On the abortion front, he said that “when it comes to the message of protecting the unborn, we are winning the battle in this generation.” A majority of Americans now believe that life begins in the womb, and a vast majority of that number believe that it begins at conception.
“I believe we may very well see abortion rolled back decisively and legally in our time,” adding that “we are not just here to fight a political battle. We are here to release destiny ... so we can see the purposes of God fulfilled in our time. We are the people. This is the time.”
Neill challenged attendees to give to the ministry, including giving for a new administrative office across the street from Brushy Creek Elementary School. The previous owner of the building donated the facility to the Piedmont Women’s Center.
After an offering was taken up, Rev. Fred Brown, vice chairman of the board, delivered the benediction.
Pre-banquet reception
At a reception before the banquet, Neill received a Palmetto Patriot Award from state Sen. Mike Farr (R-Greenville County) on behalf of Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer. Gov. Mark Sanford also spoke to guests at the reception.

When given a choice,
Wichita women choose life

WICHITA, Kansas—Women in Wichita, dubbed “ the abortion capital of the world,” are choosing life at an old abortion clinic that is being renovated to house the offices of a pro–life organization.

“Since Operation Rescue began renovations of the building, no woman who has been counseled has chosen abortion,” said Randy Hall, president of the Topeka-based Christians for Life. The story from the former Central Women’s Services clinic is, “Sorry the abortion clinic is closed, but the office next door is open,” and there, at A Better Choice, women are walking through the door leading to hope and help.

In the summer of 1991, pro-life demonstrators blocked access to the abortion clinic, and police charged them on horseback, beat some with clubs, sprayed mace and put some in jail.

Now, 16 years later, the doors to that same clinic are in the hands of the pro-lifers who bled and were jailed to gain that ground. “The pro-life movement is gaining ground and has been given victory, and God is making the way,” Hall said. “When given good information, women are making the choice for life.”

The number of abortion clinics in the United States is down from a high of 2,100 years ago, Hall said. Now it hovers somewhere around 740 remaining clinics. Greater numbers of young people today are pro-life compared to attitudes of the previous generation.

Hall suggested that people carry signs outside of abortion clinics offering an alternative to abortion. “For every woman who sees the sign, picks up on that idea and follows through, a door to life can be opened, and the door to death remain closed,” Hall said. “There are no guarantees, but given what is happening at A Better Choice, the odds are stacked in favor of a choice for life being made.”

Hall told of an encounter outside the abortion clinic in Wichita run by George Tiller, who specializes in late-term abortions. There Hall met a woman who as a teenager became pregnant. She was taken to an abortionist who offered abortion as the only answer and told her that one day she would consider him a friend for offering this help.

“By the grace of God, she knew she couldn’t take that advice,” Hall said. “With tear-filled eyes she told me about her beautiful high-school-aged daughter. No, her life hasn’t been easy, but God has provided for her and her daughter. They don’t live in poverty or want, according to the story the abortion-minded doctor tried to tell her. How powerful the truth is: women and their babies can make it. God will make a way for life, given the chance to do so.

Hall said that Tiller’s political ties and financial strength do not matter if women instead of using the entrance to his clinic; choose instead, the driveway next door and there find hope and real help.

Hall commented: “The truth about abortion is that the smooth stone given to the pro-life movement will fell the giant, the Goliath of the abortion industry, as we know it today,” adding that “the power of abortion to terminate a life, is defeated every time a mother says, “I choose life.”

Statement Regarding Death of Christin Gilbert

Statement to the Press Regarding the Death of Christin Gilbert

11/31/2005

Good Morning. My name is Randy Hall and I am the President of Christians for Life.

I stand before you today to address the untimely death of Christin Gilbert and her pre-born child that occurred in Wichita, in January of this year.

This incident occurred in part because we as citizens of the state of Kansas and of The United States allowed it. My fellow citizens - court rulings aside, may I remind you that you and I are ultimately responsible for the kind of society we choose to live in.

Historically - our state of Kansas has been at the forefront of many of our nation's most decisive moments in the quest for freedom for all our citizens.

During the years that leading up to the Civil War, Kansas was called Bleeding Kansas. At issue was the question of whether the state would enter the Union as a slave or Free State. After many bloody skirmishes fought over the course of several years, Kansas eventually

entered the union as a free state. This status served to protect the safety and well-being of all citizens without regard to race.

As a nation we pride ourselves on the freedom and liberty that we enjoy. We consider ourselves to be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Those cherished freedoms are not enjoyed by all in our state or nation - when due to circumstances beyond their own control the pre-born are not allowed to make it out of the womb alive. Kansas remains bleeding Kansas today, though for a different reason, because of Abortion.                                                                                               .

I speak today on behalf of those innocent children who lives are needlessly lost through no fault of their own.

I call upon the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, its board members as well as the members of the medical community of Kansas to recognize, respect and protect all human life when it is placed in your care.

What is human life? It's a human life when a sperm from a male and an ovum from a woman have united, and 23 maternal chromosomes and 23 paternal chromosomes begin working together resulting in a new and distinct human life with its own unique DNA characteristics.

Regarding the death of Christin Gilbert and her child, she deserved better. Christin was described as a "very special young woman by those who knew her through her involvement in the Special Olympics in Keller Texas."

This year in Keller - with an awareness of Christin's death, the Special Olympics track meet was dedicated to her.

Statement to the Press Regarding the Death of Christin Gilbert

11/31/2005

Today I ask you - Do you see what I see?

In the face of Christin Gilbert we see not only the issue of Abortion - but two human lives that were needlessly lost, Christin and her baby.

We call upon the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts to carefully review the medical practices of Dr. George Tiller and his abortion clinic staff, and consider the circumstances that resulted in Christin's death.

Regarding those practices:

. We find it inconsistent with the principles of good medical care to allow women who have received abortions to recover off site without the benefit of competent medical supervision and oversight.

. We question whether the unnecessary delays and withholding of information - at the time the 911 services were called to request an ambulance for Christin reflect a greater concern for how it would look for the clinic than for her medical needs.

These practices should result in the medical license of Dr. Tiller being revoked.

To the citizens of our state and nation - I ask you to consider the biblical example of the Good Samaritan when he came upon a fellow man in distress - who through no fault of his own was beaten and left half dead.

In the story we find two passers-by who knew of the victim's plight but willingly chose to avoid the man and his desperate condition, they passed by on the other side refusing to help him.

The Good Samaritan - however, though just an ordinary person - saw the robbery victim differently - he recognized the person, his need and he came to him and by his actions saved his life.

I call upon you my fellow citizens to in the spirit and example of the Good Samaritan to support a culture of life, and to recognize, respect, value and defend the dignity of human life.

Thank you.
